4 Beautiful Quotes For You To Share and Honour "Earth Day"!

Here at The Coaching Tools Company, we care about the planet! And for Earth Day we thought we'd create some inspiring quotes for you to share on social media etc.

It doesn't matter how much you do, it's good just to do something...

One of the tiny things I do, is to use both sides of my post-its! For a stationery lover like me, it's hard to imagine life without post-its, so I reduce any guilt I might have over this frivolous use of coloured paper by folding them along the sticky line - and using the other side...

We also recycle any packaging we can (cardboard goes into our garden to suppress weeds!), use recycled paper in our printer (non-chlorine bleached whenever possible), reuse paper that has only been printed on one side, have organic tea, coffee and milk in the office, turn off screens and lights when we are not sat at our desks - and more.

Beyond this, I think "saving" the planet - also means saving ourselves and being kind to others. So we do our best to be kind to others, even when they are not kind to us. We try to treat and pay our wonderful part-time staff well, and make generous donations to local and national charities.

Of course the work we do and support through The Coaching Tools Company - the work we ALL do as coaches IS making the world a better, more conscious place!

And working from home - as most of us do - means we're not contributing to the smog and the traffic! Way to go Coaches!

Tell us in the comments below:
What YOU do in your work to 1) Minimise your negative impact on our planet  and 2) Maximise your positive impact?

Enjoy these 4 quotes:

  1. "I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority." E.B. White
  2. "When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world." John Muir
  3. "Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed." Gandhi
  4. "A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people." Franklin D. Roosevelt

      Hi Louise,
Phew - that sounds a bit harsh! We chose our quotes purely based on the content, and I'll freely admit that I didn't check the authors' diversity beforehand.
I'm not sure that being "dead" means their words are any less valid - in fact, this means people have been saying this stuff for some time, and it's STILL an issue! So you could say, their words are more impactful because they are dead (just one perspective).
Re: 0% women - well, that is easy to rectify next time we do some quotes for Earth Day. I usually do ensure we have women quoted when we make graphics. It's something I will pay closer attention to in the future.
Re: 75% pale skinned - again, I chose the quotes based on the content. It's likely that pale people get "quoted" more - those in charge write the history, hence the lack of women in history...
I don't know if you've noticed, but when it comes to imagery we make a distinct effort - and more so recently as produce more graphics and learn - to ensure we have not just gender diversity, skin colour, but also size, age and not just the most beautiful people either. We work hard not to fall into cultural stereotyping - eg. "cute" sexualised asian women. Oh - and we try to avoid sexualised women altogether.
So, to answer your comment. We are a tiny company, we try hard, we are learning as we go. And yes, absolutely, it would have been nice to have at least one woman if not two, and one more non-pale person - so one more.
We (really) will think a bit more carefully next time.
      Warmly, Emma-Louise

I agree it’s abit harsh, I read them and thought nothing of the authors only what had been stated and I agreed. Also I was too busy admiring the art work and preoccupied with who the artist was, and planning how I could use them. Thank You Emma-Louise and Team keep up the good work and great offers.

      Hi Phyllisia, thank-you!

We do put thought into creating a diversity of images on our website. Now we will consider the diversity of our quote authors too! And we appreciate your support! Warmly, Emma-Louise
