There are so many wonderful coaches out there - doing great work. We want to build community and learn more about people out there who are coaching! A big thank-you to Zivana for agreeing to be our second coach feature! 🙂 About Zivana Anderson From: Auckland, New Zealand Business name: Soul River Describe your coaching business in one sentence: I'm a career coach who works with individuals and business owners to achieve clarity about what purposeful work means to them, and take action to have more of that in their life. Meet Zivana: QUESTION 1: What's the last book you read? "Songs of a War Boy" by Deng Thiak Adut. I am fascinated by other people's lives and stories of how they dug deep inside to overcome their personal adversities, the lessons and insights they gained from it. As a mother, I found this a deep and difficult read at times as I tried to imagine my son at the tender ages he went through different aspects of being a child soldier. QUESTION 2: Which website do you visit the most? I bounce between Fast Company and Collective Renegade (https://collectivehub.com/). I enjoy the insight career and mindset articles on Fast Company and Collective serves as my inspiration as a tribe of soulful entrepreneurs. QUESTION 3: Whom do you admire most? I always find this question a difficult one as I gain inspiration from many sources! Khalil Gibran's work and most notably, his book "The Prophet" has been a huge influence on my life. His wisdom, way with words and how he saw life with its many shades continue to be a reference for me. QUESTION 4: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? My big dream is to have a practice that includes equine coaching workshops and holding events where people have the space to explore what "work on purpose" means for them in the ever-changing world we live in. I'd like to travel internationally to be a keynote speaker and create online courses that have more niched topics. QUESTION 5: What is your "Big Project" at the moment? I'm reviewing the online career change course I developed a year ago and want to improve the marketing of this. I'd like to reach more people offshore and I'm excited to work with different people to hear their daily experiences of work. QUESTION 6: What has been your favourite coaching moment so far? For me, it's that moment when your client really GETS for themselves the thought / belief that has been holding them back. I love the look of surprise and realisation in their eyes that another way is possible. It's deeply fulfilling 🙂 QUESTION 7: What is your favourite coaching tool? I love "The Matrix" from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). It can be used across a wide range of subjects and helps clients to see how their inner world contributes to their experience of whatever the situation is we're discussing. QUESTION 8: What do you love most about being a coach? I've always been a helper and initially thought coaching would be a way to do more of that. Now that I have a few years under my belt, it's shifted to be about holding the space for someone coming to their own realisations, asking the deep questions they may not accept from another and explore the answers without judgement. It's a privileged space and I learn so much from my clients through that.
