It’s about choosing aligned actions over hustle. Holding your vision steady, even when self-doubt creeps in. And building a business that reflects who you are, not just what you do. Recently, in a team conversation, we found ourselves asking: What’s really working for coaches right now? What’s shifting? And what are the most powerful ways to grow, without burning out or losing your way? So we distilled what we’ve seen, learned, and taught into 10 grounded, practical strategies. These aren’t trends or quick fixes. They’re focused, high-impact actions designed to help you grow with clarity, confidence, and integrity. Wherever you are in your journey—starting out or scaling up—we hope this gives you inspiration and direction. You don’t have to do everything. You just need to focus on what matters. Here are our Top Ten Tips to Grow Your Coaching Business: 1. Clarify to Amplify You can’t grow what you can’t clearly articulate. Get laser-focused on who you serve, the transformation you help them achieve, and your unique coaching approach. Align your offerings with your strengths, and with the needs of your ideal clients. Then practise talking about it. Build your own familiarity with your message, get comfortable speaking it out loud and watch your ownership of the message grow. Reflection: What do your best-fit clients consistently thank you for? 2. Show Up Where It Counts You don’t need to be everywhere. Just where your people are. Choose one or two platforms your ideal clients already use, and go all in. Be consistent, share real insights, and engage with intention. It’s not about popularity. It’s about resonance and relationship. It's not about having a profile, it is really about showing up. Just like 'in real life' (IRL a my kids would say) you can't be in two places at once, so don't try. Pick your favourites and learn what it means to show up. Try this: Audit your current marketing efforts. Are you showing up where your clients are actually looking? 3. Build Simple Systems That Support You Behind every sustainable business are quiet systems doing the heavy lifting. Automate what you can, like scheduling, onboarding, invoicing, and follow-ups. Create templates and workflows that make the client journey smooth and supportive. And don’t be afraid to outsource what drains you. This is the key to growth (and often it's biggest challenge), the strength of large organisations comes in the systems that do the heavy lifting. Let the machine do the work, while you bring the heart. Tip: Systems don’t kill creativity. They create space for it. 4. Market with Integrity Marketing doesn’t have to feel icky or performative. Let your marketing be an extension of your coaching. Educate, empower, and serve before the sale. Create lead magnets that solve real problems. Share content that’s thoughtful and values-led. You get to build relationships, not just visibility. Just think about all the people out there searching for the transformation you have to offer. They are looking everywhere, they need your help. Think about it, have you ever searched all over the place for something that you needed, but couldn't find? And, then think about how grateful you were when someone pointed it out to you. To those customers looking for you, this is your marketing! Question: How can you be of service before someone ever hires you? 5. Convert with Confidence Visibility opens the door. Confidence invites people through it. Treat sample calls like mini coaching sessions: hold space, listen deeply, and reflect what you hear. Then, clearly share how you can help, without overexplaining or downplaying your value. These calls are really the first coaching session - the topic is their vision for successful coaching (their why), and you then help them get close to this by seeing how your coaching helps them bridge the gap between where they are now and where they want to be. Remember: Confidence is contagious. So is clarity. 6. Scale Smartly Once your 1:1 coaching practice is solid, look for aligned ways to expand your impact. That might mean group coaching, digital products, corporate training, or hosting workshops. Don’t follow the trends. Follow what fits you, your clients, and your season of life. You can only see so many clients/coachess in a day, what about the rest? How can they make progress, even if they can't sit with you 1:1? What steps can they take? Scaling is the opportunity to help these people. Prompt: What scalable offer could you introduce this year that excites you? 7. Step Into Your CEO Mindset You’re not just a coach. You’re the leader of your business. That means setting boundaries around your time and energy. Tracking your numbers. Making decisions based on strategy, not stress. You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to act with intention. By stepping into your CEO Mindset, you get to lead your business. You get to pay attention to the impact you are creating, not just for your clients, but also for yourself, your family and in your life. Give yourself permission to step into this, often neglected, role. Tip: Block out regular CEO Time to pause, reflect, and steer the ship with purpose. 8. Do the Inner Work Mindset isn’t optional. It’s foundational. Imposter syndrome, fear of visibility, resistance to selling — they’re all part of the journey. But they don’t have to define it. Growth comes from moving through them, not waiting for them to disappear. Give yourself time to reflect on what is working in your coaching and in your business. Join discussion groups to explore coaching competencies or ethics. Read books or articles (and definitely this blog), so gain new ideas and ways of thinking. Prioritise working with your own coach. Show your clients the importance of our profession by walking the walk. Reflection: What mindset shift would unlock your next level of visibility or leadership? 9. Invest in Yourself Your business grows when you grow. Whether it’s working with a mentor, joining a peer group, or deepening your professional development, support fuels clarity, confidence, and momentum. You don’t have to do it alone. In fact, trying to do it alone can be one of the biggest drains on your energy and confidence. You are worth it, and as you spend time and money on your own growth, you are truly investing in your future. Ask yourself: Who’s in your corner as you grow? If you’re ready for structured support, our current Mentor Program offers guidance, feedback, and community for coaches ready to grow with intention. 10. Define Your Version of Success There’s no single definition of success. For some, it’s six figures. For others, it’s making a difference, having freedom, or creating a business that fits around family life. Whatever it is, name it. Own it. Let it shape your choices. Then take action to make it happen. Just remember to pay deliberate attention to your progress along the way so you can acknowledge moving forward and celebrate the lessons you gain along the way. It's not only about the outcome, enjoy the journey and share your insights. Reminder: You get to define what success looks like for you. Wrap Up Growing your coaching business isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what matters most. Make intentional choices. Build supportive systems. Align your mindset with your mission. And keep coming back to your deeper why. Because your business isn’t just a source of income. It’s a platform of transformation - for you and your clients. So take a breath. Choose your next aligned step.
